OUR ORIGINES

Our Brand was created back in 1951. The company that was to give birth to Bering was called Plastex. A group whose primary business was based on designing and making protective clothing for bikers and with a subsidiary company specialising in making clothes for blue water sailors. A life that exposed men to the rigours of life on-board under demanding conditions and in the face of the elements (constant dampness, cold, salt abrasion…). From able seaman to captain, each and everyone of the crew is looking for ultra efficient but also comfortable clothing. Naturally the selection criteria also include the absence of any hindrance or restriction affecting everyday movement.

The Bering name was taken later to underline the purpose of the company's products.
The Bering Strait is the point where Alaska and Siberia come together, located under the 60° parallel. The Bering Strait is icebound many months every year. Swept by violent winds and marked by an extremely harsh climate, this inhospitable environment is only inhabited by animals with organisms and protection systems suited to resisting these climate conditions.
Summarising the conditions of life onboard an ocean going trawler. Bering provided an effective answer to men facing these rigours.

 

OUR LOGO

The brand’s emble mis the polar bear : resistant to water, to the cold, collisions and skidding, the polar bear is an athlete, the perfect result of evolving to adapt to a demanding and harsh environment, in every circumstance.

« Bering style » is somethingwe hear often : the brand has always granted particular attention to the design of its products, thus offering its customers perfectly reliable products and at the same time meeting the expectations of a clientele in search of creativity and the latest trends
